[김준호 기자=동해시] 동해시가 북평산업단지 경쟁력 강화 및 구조고도화를 위해 공공임대형 지식산업센터 추진을 위한 중기부 공모 도전에 사활을 걸고 나섰다.

이에따라, 입주기업 간 또는 입주기업과 대학, 연구기관 등 외부기관 간 소통을 위한 네트워킹 및 개방형 혁신 공간의 필요성이 제기되어 왔다.

시는, 오는 2026년까지 국비 등 228억원을 들여 제조업과 지식산업, 정보통신산업 및 지원시설 등 복합적으로 입주 가능한 다층형 집합건물인 공공임대형 지식산업센터 건립을 준비중에 있다.

지난해 5월 공모 신청을 위한 타당성 연구 조사용역을 시작으로 대상 부지 및 입주수요 조사를 실시했으며, 10월 북평 국가산업단지 초입에  위치한 구호동 218번지를 대상 부지로 최종 확정했다.

시는 오는 17일 오후 4시 시청 2층 회의실에서 심규언 시장을 비롯한 관련부서장, 한국산업단지공단 동해시장, 창업보육센터 등 유관기관과 용역사 ㈜동남엔지니어링 관계자 30여명이 참석한 가운데, 지식산업센터 타당성 조사용역 보고회를 개최한다.

이날 보고회에서는 용역사로부터 지식산업센터 건립에 대한 기본계획 및 타당성 수립 용역 최종 보고자료를 청취하고, 시장 주재로 타당성 조사 내용과 기본 계획안에 대한 토의 및 의견을 수렴하게 된다. 

북평산업단지 내 지식산업센터 건립의 적정성 검토, 경관 및 주변 시설을 고려한 공간계획의 방향성, 시설이용자 맞춤형 시설규모, 배치, 형태의 적정성 등 건립 타당성, 공간 및 배치 계획을 비롯하여,

북평산업단지 경쟁력강화사업, 혁신지원센터, 저탄소 그린산업단지, 아름다운거리 조성, 복합문화센터 건립 등 북평산업단지 경쟁력 강화 및 구조 고도화를 위하여 추진 중인 기존 사업과의 연계 방안을 모색하고, 유관기관 협의 내용 반영, 민원 대응 방안 등을 심도있게 논의하게 된다. 

이번 용역결과를 검토하여 오는 3월말까지 강원도에 사업계획서를 제출하고, 관련부처에 중앙투자심사 의뢰도 병행하여 사업 추진에 속도를 높일 계획이다.

심규언 시장은 “지역 전략사업 육성을 통한 지역경제 활성화와 기업의 업종별 집단화를 통한 집적효과 제고를 위해 준비중인 지식산업센터 건립사업을 기존 추진중인 공모사업과 연계하여 사업의 시너지를 높이고,  공모에 반드시 선정될 수 있도록 심혈을 기울여 추진해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
