[남상훈 기자 = 원주] 21일 북부지방산림청과 철원군이 금학산 치유의 숲 조성을 위해 공동산림사업 업무 협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 공동산림사업은 북부지방산림청과 철원군이 함께 철원군 동송읍 이평리 소재 금학산 일대 국유림 및 군유림에 오는 2024년부터 2027년까지 산림자원을 활용해 산림치유시설 기반을 구축하고 도시민에게 생활권 산림치유서비스를 제공하기 위한 ‘치유의 숲’을 조성하는 사업이다.

치유의 숲은 4개 공간지구로 구분, 산림치유센터 및 치유시설·치유정원·명상쉼터·숲길 등 방문객과 등산객들이 산림 체험과 프로그램을 이용할 수 있는 공간을 조성하고, 인근에 기조성되어있는 하늘숲땅숲 전망시설, 유아숲체험원 등의 기반시설과 연계해 산림휴양·치유 등 산림복지서비스를 제공하게 된다.

북부지방산림청과 철원군은 치유의 숲 조성으로 약 25,000여명의 인구가 거주중인 철원군 동송읍 지역주민과 철원을 찾는 관광객 등이 많이 이용할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

임하수 북부지방산림청장은 “산림치유에 대한 수요와 관심이 점점 증가하는 추세로 북부지방산림청과 철원군에서 공동산림사업을 통해 조성하고자 하는 금학산 치유의 숲이 주민들에게 힐링의 기회가 될 수 있기를 바란다.”고 말했다.
