[서종협 기자 = 평창군] 평창군(군수 심재국)은 쾌적하고 깨끗한 주거 환경을 만들기 위해 매월 셋째주 수요일을 환경지킴이날로 정하여 하천변, 관광지, 시가지 등 곳곳에 겨우내 방치됐던 하천변 쓰레기를 집중적으로 청소하여 깨끗한 도시 이미지를 조성하겠다고 밝혔다.

환경지킴이날은 봄과 가을에 집중 운영될 예정이며, 3월 22일 세계 물의 날을 기념하여 평창군 하천변을 중심으로 평창군과 읍·면 사회단체 등 400여명이 함께 환경정화 활동을 실시하였다.

심재국 평창군수는 “환경지킴이날에 참여해주신 모든 분들께 감사드린다”라며 “앞으로도 환경지킴이날을 통해 주민들이 살기 좋은 환경을 만들고, 코로나19 사회적 거리두기가 완화됨에 따라 평창을 찾는 관광객이 점점 증가하는데 깨끗한 환경에서 평창을 즐길 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”라고 전했다.
