[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 11일 가평군은 학도의용대 참전비에서 제22회 전몰학도의용대 추도식을 가졌다고 밝혔다. 

이 날 행사는 가평군수 김성기, 군의회 의장 배영식, (사)학도의용군전우회 경기북부지부장 신일균, (사)학도의용군전우회 중앙지회장 김만규, 전몰군경유족회장 조영호 등 관계자만이 참석한 가운데 묵념, 헌화, 분향 순으로 진행되었으며 학생신분으로 6.25전쟁에 참여하여 나라를 위해 목숨을 바친 학도의용대원들의 넋을 위로하고 안식을 기원했다고 전했다. 

이번 추도식은 6.25 한국전쟁 당시 자유민주주의와 조국수호에 앞장섰다가 꽃다운 나이에 산화한 학도병들의 숭고한 넋을 기리고 유족들을 위로하기 위해 (사)학도의용군전우회 경기북부지부 주관으로 매년 11월 11일 성대하게 개최해 왔으나 올해는 코로나 19와 추운 날씨에 고령의 회원들의 건강을 고려하여 약식으로 개최하게 되었다고 했다. 

가평 전몰 학도병 추모비는 불타오르는 정의감과 조국수호의 사명감으로 전쟁터에 나섰다 전공을 세우고 희생한 군번 없는 학도병의 영혼을 달래고 이들의 고귀한 희생정신을 기리고자 지난 2000년에 생존한 학도병들의 성금과 군 지원금 등으로 참전비를 설치했다고 전했다.
