[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 태백시는 행정안전부 주관 ‘2022년 인구감소지역 주민참여형 소생활권 활성화 프로젝트’ 공모사업에 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다. 

이번 공모사업은 전국 인구감소지역 중 10개의 지자체가 선정됐으며 강원도에서는 태백시가 유일하게 최종 선정됐다고 전했다.

사업은 주민과 지자체가 주도적으로 인구문제를 분석하고 지역여건을 고려해 생활권 활성화 계획을 수립하고 중앙정부와 협력해 추진하는 사업이라고 했다.

태백시는 사업대상지를 장성동, 구문소동 일대로 선정하고 ‘내가 만드는 우리동네 대전환! 스위치 ON 장성·구문소 만들기’라는 비전을 제시했다고 전했다.

지역상생 청년활동 확대로 청년활동가 유입, 주민자치 확대, 마을 공간개선으로 생활인구 증대 등 3대 목표로 지역 특화자원 연계를 통한 일자리 창출, 빈집과 빈공간 정비, 생활밀착형 사업 등을 추진해 나갈 계획이며, 또한 주민 주축으로 추진위원회를 구성해 각 분야의 전문가와 협업으로 전담조직을 구성해 나갈 예정이라고 했다.

태백시 관계자는 “이번 사업을 통해 주민주도의 지역 맞춤형 정책을 추진해 나가겠다”며 “인구감소 문제 해결을 위해 다양한 사업을 지속적으로 발굴해 나가겠다” 고 말했다.

한편, 태백시는 소생활권 계획 수립과 추진체계 운영을 위한 국비를 매년 최대 1억 원씩 최대 3년간 지원받으며, 인구감소지역과 관련 각 중앙부처 공모에 가점을 부여 받을 수 있다고 전했다.
