[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 김홍규 강릉시장은 민선8기 시정의 최우선 목표를 인구증가와 일자리 창출에 역점을 두고 있다고 전했다.

5대 핵심공약 중 첫 번째인 <해양실크로드 경제도시> 분야의 항만건설·국가산업단지 조성, 환동해권 복합물류 거점 기지 조성 등 세부과제를 신속하게 추진하기 위해 현장 점검에 나선다고 밝혔다.

특히, 첫날인 12일에는 시민생활과 밀접하게 연관되어 있고 준공을 앞둔‘안인화력발전소’와 해양실크로드 경제도시의 핵심사업장인 ‘옥계항’을 취임 이후 첫 방문지로 정했다. 

강릉 안인 1, 2호기 건설현장(이하 안인발전소)은 사업비 5조 6천억 원의 국내 최대 규모의 건설 사업현장이다.

안인발전소 1호기는 올 9월, 2호기는 내년 3월 준공 예정으로 준공 이후 강릉에코파워, 한국남동발전 등 운영사 및 협력사를 포함하여 600여 명의 인력이 상주하고, 운영 등의 경제적 파급효과 또한 2조 1천억 원에 달하는 등 지역경제 활성화와 일자리 창출의 중심축 역할을 하게 될 것으로 기대되고 있다.

이어서 방문하는 옥계항은 지난 1991년 한라시멘트에서 시멘트 무역의 전진기지로 활용하기 위해 건설됐다.

김 시장은 옥계항을 차후 컨테이너 물류항으로 육성하고, 장기적으로는 항만기본계획에 반영하여 국가항으로 건설, 인근의 철도(동해선), 항공(양양국제공항)을 연계, 옥계산업단지와 동해안권 경제자유구역 옥계지구, 강릉중소일반산업단지, 강릉과학산업단지, 주문진농공단지와 함께 강릉을 환동해권 복합물류 거점으로 거듭나게 할 계획이다.

김홍규 강릉시장은“각종 규제 완화로 원활한 투자유치 및 도심공동화를 해소하고, 대규모 투자사업 유치로 일자리 창출 및 지역 경기 활성화에 최선의 노력을 다해 나가겠다.”고 밝혔다.
