단속 시간은 평일 6시부터 오후 9시까지로 주말·공휴일은 제외되며, 위반차량에 대해서는 1일 과태료 10만 원이 부과되고, 저감장치 부착차량, 긴급자동차, 장애인, 국가유공자 등 차량, 저감장치 부착불가 차량 중 기초생활수급자, 차상위계층 및 소상공인 차량 등은 과태료 부과 대상에서 제외되며, 차량등록지가 비수도권인 5등급 차량은 내년 9월까지 저공해조치를 완료할 경우 과태료 부과를 유예하고, 신차출고 지연 차량에 대해서는 출고 시까지 유예한다고 전했다.
