[김준호 기자 = 강원남부] 동해해양경찰서(총경 최시영)는 2023년 3월까지 약 4개월간 청정 동해바다를 위한 선박연료유 황함유량 및 항만 비산먼지 발생사업장에 대해 일제점검을 실시한다.

제4차 미세먼지 계절관리제 시행에 따라 항만지역에서 발생하는 미세먼지 저감을 위해 통항선박에 대해서는 연료유 황유량 기준 준수, 연료유 견본 보관 여부 등을 점검하고 하역시설에 대해서는 하역작업 중 비산먼지 발생 및 해상탈락 등을 집중 점검할 예정이다.

선박 연료유에 포함된 황 성분은 항만지역에서 발생하는 미세먼지의 주요 원인의 하나로 국내항해 선박의 황함유량 기준은 경유 0.05%이하 및 중유 0.5% 이하 이며, 국제항해 선박은 경유와 중유 모두 0.5% 이하로 적용하고 있다. 선박에서 부적합 연료유를 사용할 경우 관련 규정에 따라 1년 이하의 징역 또는 1천만원 이하의 벌금에 처해 질 수 있다.

동해해경 관계자는 “항만지역에서 발생하는 미세먼지를 줄이고 깨끗한 해양환경을 만들어 나갈 수 있도록 해양종사자와 관련 업체에서도 지속적인 관심을 가져달라” 라고 당부했다.
