[김준호 기자=정선군] 정선지역 고교동문회장단이 지역 교육 발전을 위한 중·고교 동문연합 협의체를 구성·운영하기로 결정했다.

정선 중·고교 동문연합 협의체에는 정선중‧고, 정보공고총동문회(회장 고태인), 고한중‧고총동문회(회장 김재곤), 사북중‧고총동문회(회장 엄남섭), 함백중‧고총동문회(회장 나흥주), 임계중‧고총동문회(회장 함형길) 등 관내 5개 중‧고등학교 동문회가 참여하고 있다.

또한 초대회장에는 정선교육발전자문위원회 위원장 및 강원도학교운영위원회 총연합회 고문 나흥주 함백중‧고총동문회장을 선출했다.

협의체는, 저출산 및 이농현상 가속화 등으로 인하여 학령인구가 심각하게 줄어들고 있는 현 지방소멸 위기 상황에 관내 상당수의 학교가 존폐의 기로에 서 있다고 판단하고 실질적이고 체계적인 교육발전을 위해 노력해 나간다는 방침이다.

이어, 교육환경 개선방안 마련, 학교 통‧폐합 위기 적극 대응, 출향 동문 네트워크를 활용한 고향사랑기부제 활성화, 재외 동문 2~3세 정선 유학 홍보센터 운영, 민‧관 교류 활성화를 위한 정례 행사 개최 등의 목표를 가지고 운영에 박차를 가해 나갈 계획이다.

또한, 세부 실무협의 및 유관기관과의 유기적 협력체계 구축을 위하여 정선군청 및 정선교육지원청을 포함한 실무협의체를 구성하기로 협의하였다.

나흥주 회장은 “저출산으로 마을소멸과 함께 학교가 사라질 위기에 직면해 있는 만큼 위기의식을 갖고 모교와 지역사회의 관계를 유기적으로 발전시키고자 연합 협의체를 구성하였으며, 실효성 있는 교육환경 개선 및 지역사회 발전을 위하여 주인의식을 갖고 선도적 역할을 다하도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
