[김준호 기자=정선군] 정선군 가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원 조성을 위한 강원도민 추진위원회, 스포츠인 추진위원회, 문화예술인 추진위원회가 춘천 세종호텔에서 올림픽 국가정원 추진 비상대책회의(이하 비상대책회의)를 개최하여 3개 추진위를 통합한 “가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원 범국민 추진위원회"(이하 범국민 추진위)를 결성하고, 중부권 최초 국가정원 지정을 위한 결의를 다졌다.

이날 결성된 범국민 추진위는 대내외적 난관을 뚫고 중부권 최초 국가정원이 반드시 강원도에 조성될 수 있도록 150만 강원도민들과 스포츠계, 문화예술계 등 범국민적인 의지와 역량을 총결집할 것을 결의하고, 무엇보다 강원 정치권의 보다 적극적인 관심과 역할을 호소하였다.

이날 비상대책회의에서 전영록 상임공동대표(전국 및 강원도 이‧통장연합회 회장)는 “가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원은 올림픽 유산을 활용한다는 국제적 명분과 지방균형발전 측면에서 중부권 최초 국가정원이라는 점, 가리왕산 산림생태복원 방법으로서 최적의 대안이라는 점 등 그 당위성과 타당성에도 불구하고, 산림청은 생태복원이라는 원칙만 되풀이하며 미온적 입장을 보이고 있으며, 강원 정치권 역시 ‘산림청을 설득하고 대통령께 건의하는 것’과 같은 보다 적극적인 활동에는 아직 나서지 않고 있는 것 같다”고 아쉬움을 표명했다.

 또한 공동대표들은 “중앙정부 차원에서도 가리왕산 올림픽 국가정원 같은 실질적이고 명분있는 강원도의 신성장동력을 정책적으로 지원하는 것이 ‘강원특별자치도 특별법의 입법 취지를 살리는 길’이 될 것”이라고 밝히며, 범국민 추진위가 앞장서 강원 정치권과 함께 국민적 공감대와 강원도민의 의지를 모아낼 것을 다짐했다.

한편 범국민 추진위는 이날 비상대책회의에서 8명의 상임공동대표단과 40인의 공동대표단을 선출하고, 기존 3개 추진위를 4개 분과위로 확대 개편하는 등 조직체계를 정비하였으며, 4월 중 "범국민 추진위 출범식 및 결의대회"를 개최하는 등 본격적인 활동에 나선다.
