[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 속초시가 저출산·고령사회 위기대응 및 사회인식 개선을 위해 공무원과 민간단체 대상으로 인구교육을 실시했다고 밝혔다. 

코로나 19로 비대면으로 진행했던 작년과 달리 올해는 지난 14일 총 2회에 걸쳐 조양동 통장협의회 60여 명과 속초시 공직자 120여 명을 대상으로 대면교육을 실시했다.

속초시는 매년 인구교육을 실시하고 있으며 저출산 현상 지속 및 고령인구 비율의 지속적 증가에 따른 재정부담, 인구감소에 따른 위기가 현실화됨에 따라 인구문제에 대한 심각성을 공유하고 사회인식 개선을 도모하기 위해 세대와 연령을 고려한 맞춤형 인구교육을 진행해왔다.

본 교육은 인구보건복지협회 이승옥 전문강사를 초빙해 진행되며, 퀴즈와 함께 알아보는 대한민국의 인구변화와 저출산의 원인 및 희망 대책, 인구정책이 성공한 다른 나라 사례 공유, 다양한 가족의 형태 이해 등을 중심으로 교육이 진행됐다.

속초시 관계자는 “급격한 저출산 및 고령화, 도시집중 등 인구문제에 따른 대응방법을 모색하고 모든 세대가 함께 행복한 지속 가능한 사회를 실천할 수 있는 계기를 마련하는데 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.”라고 밝혔다.
