[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 10월 12일~15일 4일 동안동두천시는 한국교통안전공단과 협력하여 관내 상패동 행정복지센터 등 4곳에서 정기검사를 받지 못한 중소형 이륜자동차를 대상으로 하여 출장검사를 실시하였다고 밝혔다. 

시에 따르면 관련법의 개정으로 2018년 이후 등록된 50cc 이상 260cc 미만의 중소형 이륜자동차들도 금년부터 정기검사의 대상에 포함되었으며, 그러나 동두천 관내에 이륜자동차의 검사를 진행할 검사소가 없는 관계로 동두천의 중소형 이륜자동차들은 검사소가 있는 인근의 의정부시나 연천군으로 가서 검사를 받을 수밖에 없는 큰 불편함이 있었고, 특히 중소형 이륜자동차의 차주들 가운데 노약자나 여성이 많다는 점을 감안할 때 안전사고의 우려도 있었다고 말했다.

이에 동두천시는 한국교통안전공단과 협의하여 출장검사를 추진하였고, 그 결과 진행된 4일 간의 출장검사는 66대의 검사대상 이륜자동차 가운데 56대가 참여한 가운데 무사히 마무리되었다고 했다.

시 관계자는 “앞으로도 이륜자동차의 검사소 부재 문제를 해결하기 위해 관련 업체들과의 협의를 지속적으로 추진할 예정”이라고 밝혔다.
