[김현우 기자 = 동두천] 동두천시는 5대 불법 주·정차 금지구역에 대한 불법행위를 근절하기 위해 불법 주·정차 주민신고제에 대하여 다양한 방법으로 홍보하고 있다고 2일 밝혔다. 

5대 불법 주·정차 금지구역은 횡단보도, 교차로 모퉁이 5m 이내, 버스정류소 10m 이내, 소화전 주변 5m 이내, 어린이보호구역 등이다.

최근 초등학교 주변 어린이 보행안전 강화를 위해 어린이보호구역을 포함한 5대 불법 주·정차 주민신고제가 2020년부터 시행됐음에도 불구하고, 5대 불법주·정차 금지구역에 대한 인식이 여전히 부족한 실정이다.

동두천시는 이에 따라 불법 주·정차 지도 및 단속 인력 10여명을 투입해 대대적인 홍보와 계도를 병행 시행하고 있으며, 또한 동두천 시민이 불법 주·정차에 대해 인지할 수 있도록 40여 개소에 현수막도 게첨할 계획이다.

주정차금지 안내문에는 5대 불법 주·정차 유형과 주민신고제(안전신문고) 신고 방법이 안내돼 있으며, 홍보를 통해 불필요한 과태료 부과를 방지하여 시민불편을 최소화하고 교통질서 확립과 시민들의 안전사고 예방에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.
