[김준호 기자 = 동해시] 동해해양경찰서는 지난 12월 18일 독도 북동방 163km 해상에서  조난선박이 발생해 승선원 10명 전원을 안전하게 구조했지만 구조과정에서 동해해경 해양경찰관 2명이 부상을 입어 치료중이라고 21일 밝혔다.

동해해경에 따르면, 지난 18일 새벽 2시 35분께 독도 북동방 해상에서 A호(69톤, 통발, 강구선적, 승선원 10명)가 통발 조업 중 기상악화로 인해 해수가 기관실로 유입되어 전기합선(추정)으로 선박 내 기관고장과 정전이 됐다는 신고를 접수했다.

동해해경은 신고접수 즉시 독도 인근 경비중인 3000톤 함정을 현장으로 급파해 조난선박을 구조했지만 예인 구조과정에서 현장 해양경찰관이 부상 당했다고 전했다.

동해해경에 따르면 3016함 김재휘 순경(거제, 96년생)은 예인색 연결 업무 중 함미에서 집채만한 파도가 연속으로 밀려 1차 부상에 이어, 조난선박 안전관리 및 순찰업무 도중 기상악화로 해경함정이 파도를 맞고 기울어진 순간 계단에서 넘어지면서 정강이 쪽 열상을 입어 뼈가 보일만큼 피부가 찢어지는 부상을 입었다.

동해해경 3016함은 곧바로  원격의료시스템을 가동했고 24시간 이내 응급처치 및 봉합수술을 하지 않으면 골막염이 발생할 수 있다는 강릉A병원 의사의 소견을 받아 즉시 응급처치를 실시했다.

부상당한 또 다른 천희민 순경(안산, 89년생)은 예인 준비작업 중 함미에서(예인작업 공간) 월파 등 기상악화로 인해 주변 철재 구조물인 예인기 모서리에 부딪혀 왼쪽발가락 골절과 인대파열에 큰상처를 입었다.

2명의 해양경찰관은 20일 새벽 강릉 A병원으로 이송됐고, 전희민 순경은 왼쪽발에 통깁스를, 김재휘 순경은 찢어진 부분에 봉합 수술을 받았다.

천 순경은 “해양경찰로서 업무를 시작한지 얼마 되지 않아 이런 대형상황이 처음이라 당황했지만 평소 교육훈련을 열심히 했기 때문에 선후배 동료들과 함께 구조작업을 성공적으로 마친 것 같다”며 “앞으로도 이번 구조작업을 토대로 경험을 쌓아가며 국민의 생명을 위해 헌신하는 해양경찰이 되겠다.”고 말했다. 

한편, 조난선박 A호는 20일 오후 5시 10분께 울릉도 인근 해상에서 섭외된 예인선에 인계했다.
