[김준호 기자 = 강원남부] 동해해양경찰서(서장 최시영)는 지난 23일 저녁 10시 22분경 울릉의료원으로부터 위장 출혈 증상을 나타내는 응급환자 A씨(남, 30대)를 이송해 달라는 신고를 접수 받고, 오늘 응급환자 1명을 함정을 이용해 긴급 이송했다고 밝혔다.

신고 접수 당시 동해중부전해상 풍랑특보(풍속 12~22m/s, 파고 5~6m/s, 눈보라 동반)로 인한 기상불량으로 해경 및 소방 헬기 지원이 힘들자 동해해경은 울릉 인근 해상에서 경비 중인 1,500톤급 경비함정을 울릉도로 급파했다.

이어 단정을 이용하여 환자와 의사 등 총 3명을 경비함정으로 승선 시킨 후 오늘(24일) 오전 8시 16분께 동해항에 입항했고 대기 중이던 119 구급대에게 인계했다.

응급환자는 119 구급대에게 인계 시 의식이 있는 상태였으며 현재 강릉 A병원에 도착해 안정적으로 치료 중이다.

동해해경 관계자는“동해중부전해상에 풍랑특보가 발효 중이지만 응급환자를 안전하게 이송할 수 있어서 다행이다”며“의료 사각지대에 있는 도서지역에서 발생하는 응급환자 생명을 보호하기 위해 동해해경은 최선을 다하겠다”라고 말했다.

한편, 올해 현재까지 31회(헬기 19, 함정 12) 31명의 응급환자를 이송했다.
