[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 가평라이온스클럽 회원 일동은 지난 6월 14일, 가평읍 행정복지센터를 방문하여 관내 저소득 계층을 위한 이웃돕기 성품 백미10kg 120포를 기탁했다고 밝혔다.

어제 취임한 한상훈 회장은 새롭게 시작하는 의미를 나누고자 축하 화환을 받는 대신 기탁의 뜻을 전했고, 회원 일동이 이를 실천하며 회장의 취임을 함께 축하했다. 

한상훈 회장은 “코로나로 움츠렸던 회원들이 다시 힘찬 첫 걸음을 시작으로 더욱 박차를 가해 봉사 활동에 임할 것이다. 앞으로도 여러 활동에 많은 도움이 필요할 것이다. 언제든지 협조를 부탁한다.”라고 각오와 소감을 전했다. 

임상호 가평읍장은 “지역사회에서 도움의 손길이 필요한 다방면에 봉사 활동을 펼치고 있는 회원 여러분들이 살기 좋은 가평을 만드는데 큰 힘이 되고 있다. 신임 회장을 비롯해 라이온스 클럽의 발전을 기대하며 앞으로도 이웃과 지역을 행복하게 만드는 데에 힘써 주길 바란다.” 라며 감사의 인사를 전했다.  

한편, 라이온스클럽은 국제 사회복지단체로서 가평군, 사회복지 시설 등에 이웃돕기 성품, 성금 기탁, 장학금 수여, 다문화축제 개최 등 여러 활동을 통해 봉사 업적을 쌓아오고 있다고 밝혔다.
