[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양주시는 지난 25일 양주시쌀연구회에서 사랑의 손길과 나눔을 함께하고자 소외된 이웃들에게 양주쌀 10kg짜리 20포를 기탁했다고 밝혔다.

백웅현 회장은 “코로나19 재확산 우려로 어려움이 크지만 새롭게 시작되는 민선 8기를 맞이한 만큼 더 힘든 이웃들과 더불어 살아가는 일에 힘껏 도울 것"이라고 했다.

시 관계자는 "이번 할인판매 행사가 관광객과 학생, 기업종사자 등에게 품질 좋은 양주골쌀을 제공하고 농업 소득 증진을 통한 지역경제 활성화에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다"고 말했다.

시는 양주골쌀 안정적 소비처 확보와 지속적인 소비촉진을 위해 요식업소나 단체급식소 등에 관내 농협과 마트 등에서 양주골쌀 할인판매 행사를 오는 9월까지 진행 중이다.

양주시쌀연구회는 회원 96명으로 현장문제 해결을 위한 경영개선과 농작업 생력화 등 기술 정보교류로 농가소득 향상을 도모하고 있으며, 주기적으로 어려운 이웃을 위해 물품 전달로 나눔의 손길을 이어가고 있어 지역사회에 훈훈함을 더하고 있다.
