[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 4월 19일 20시부터 2시간가량, 의정부시는 의정부경찰서, 한국교통안전공단 경기북부본부 3개 기관 합동으로 의정부역 동부 방향 평화로 대로변에서 오토바이 불법 구조변경 야간 합동단속을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이번 단속은 배달 확산 등으로 오토바이 운행이 늘면서 소음으로 인한 주민 불편 해소와 안전한 교통문화 정착을 위해 지난 3월에 이어서 실시하게 됐고 주요 단속은 소음의 주범인 경음기 및 소음기 불법 튜닝과 운전자의 시야를 방해할 수 있는 안개등, 전조등 변경 등에 대해 중점적으로 단속했다고 전했다.

특히 이날은 소음기준 초과가 의심되는 이륜차 2대를 정지시켜 소음을 측정했으나 소음 단속기준인 105데시벨(dB)에 미치지 않아 처벌을 할 수 없었고, 소음·진동관리법에 따라 소음 규제 기준 105db(데시벨)이 초과되는 오토바이에 대해서는 100만 원 이하의 과태료 등 행정처분이 이뤄지나 소음 허용기준치가 높아 실질적인 단속이 어려운 실정이라고 했다.

이번 단속을 통해 번호판 오염 등 6건, 후미등(번호등) 고장 등 18건, 소음기 및 안개등 등 불법튜닝 14건 등 총 38건에 대해 자동차관리법 제10조, 제29조, 제34조에 의거 행정처분 및 형사입건이 이루어질 예정이라고 전했다.
