[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 9월 의정부시는 도심 내 오토바이 굉음으로 인한 주민불편해소를 위하여의정부경찰서, 교통안전공단과 함께 ‘오토바이 불법구조변경 야간합동단속’을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

밤 8시부터 9시 30분까지 의정부역 앞 평화로에서 실시한 합동단속은 의정부시청 교통지도과, 환경관리과, 의정부경찰서 교통안전계, 교통안전공단 등 20여 명이 참여한 가운데 오토바이의 소음 허용기준 초과 여부, 불법 구조변경 행위 여부 등을 중점 단속했다고 했다.

합동단속에는 경찰관이 오토바이를 검문하면, 환경관리공단에서 오토바이 불법구조변경 여부를 확인하고, 시청 환경관리과에서 소음 측정과 교통지도과에서 불법행위자의 자인서를 받는 형식으로 단속하여 오토바이 120대 검문을 통해 소음위반 4건, 미승인 등화설치 9건, 불법 부착물 및 번호판 오염 4건 등 총 17건을 단속했다고 했다.

이번 단속된 오토바이는 자동차관리법 및 소음·진동관리법에 따라 불법구조 변경은 1년 이하 징역 1천만원 이하의 벌금이 부과되며, 소음 규제 기준 105db(데시벨)이 초과 된 이륜차에 대해서는 100만원 이하의 과태료 등 행정처분이 이루어질 예정이라고 했다. 

앞으로도 의정부시는 도심 내 오토바이 굉음에 대해 유관기관과 정기적인 합동단속을 통해  주민의 불편을 해소하고, 교통질서를 확립해 나갈 예정이라고 했다.
