[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강릉시는 코로나19 장기화로 지치고 힘든 시민들에게 따뜻한 위로와 희망을 선사하기 위하여 연말연시를 맞이해 주요 시가지에 경관조명을 설치한다고 밝혔다.

설치 장소는 월화거리와, 솔올택지, 유천택지 일원 및 주요 관광지에 LED 장식조명을 설치하고 점등 기간은 12월부터 내년 2월까지 3개월간 한시적으로 운영된다고 했다.

특히, 코로나19로 침체되어 있는 분위기에 위드 코로나에 따른 경기회복과 활기를 불어 넣을 것으로 기대되며, 시민들과 관광객들이 방문하기 쉽고 자주 들를 수 있는 장소 위주로 야간 조명을 설치하여 생활 속에서 자연스럽게 연말연시 분위기를 만끽할 수 있도록 공간을 조성한다고 했다.

또한 강릉시에서는 야간경관 도시의 브랜드 제고를 위하여 올해에는 경포해변 오리·십리바위, 미디어폴, 라이트캔버스와 월화정 야간경관 개선사업을 완료했으며, 연내 오죽헌과 정동진 모래시계 공원에 야간경관 조성사업을 마무리하여 시민들과 강릉을 찾는 관광객에게 야간 볼거리를 제공하고 관광객이 머물 수 있는 도심 경관 조성에 노력하고 있다고 전했다.

강릉시 관계자는“이번 경관조명 설치로 시민들이 가까운 곳에서 편안한 휴식과 문화생활을 즐길 수 있는 공간이 되길 바라며 더불어 시가지 주변 지역경제 활성화의 밑거름이 될 것으로 생각한다.”고 말했다.
