[김준호 기자=동해시] 동해시 해돋이 명소인 추암이 동해안 대표 야간 명소로 탈바꿈 하고 있다고 밝혔다.

시에 따르면, 총 20억여원이 투입되는 추암 빛 테마파크 조성사업은  오는 4월까지 추암조각공원 일원에 5억 6천여만 원을 들여 특화조명 및 데크산책로 경관조명 등을 설치해 관광객들에게 다양한 볼거리를 제공하게 된다.

또, 12억원여 원을 투입해 올연말까지 조각 예술을 감상하는 특화공간 조성과 추암광장 및 해암정 일원에서 관광객들에게  몽환적인 미디어 파사드 쇼를 통해 야간 경관 특화도시로서의 매력을 선보일 예정이다.

한편, 동해시 일출장면과 추암촛대바위, 기암석림과 해암정으로 유명한 추암관광지에 출렁다리를 설치하고 해안산책길을 새롭게 정비하는 등 꾸준한 관광개발사업을 추진하고 있다.

시는, 추암 빛 테마파크 조성으로 겨울철 관광요소 부재를 해소하고, 야간경관의 관광자원화를 통해 지역경제 활성화에 기여한다는 방침이다.

심규언 시장은 “사계절을 아우르는 체류형 야간 명소에서 한 발 더 나아가 디지털 기술을 적극적으로 활용하는 스마트 관광도시는 미래 지역관광 흐름의 판도를 뒤바꿔 놓을 게임체인저가 될 것” 고 말했다.
