이날 김성기 군수는 "가평군은 그동안 수도권 정비계획법을 비롯해 군사안보나 수자원관리 등 중첩규제로 피해를 보면서도 실질적인 지원이나 보상이 부족한 상태로 버텨왔다"고 말했다. 또,  "도내에서 지방소멸 위험지수가 가장높고 경기도 공공기관이 유일하게 없는 지자체로써 경기도의 진정한 균형발전을 위한 특별한 희생지역 이었음"을 피력했다.
