[김일웅 기자= 경기북부/강원] 상판리 주민들이 군부대 전차 사격장내 발암물질 발생에 대해 언급하며 거접 사격장 폐지를 외치며 전차와 대치한 것은 2019년부터이다. 이로부터 3년이 지난 22년, 국방부에서 거접사격장 인근 마을을 매입하기로 하면서 대치상태를 화합의 모드로 전환 시켰다. 

 

이 사격장 주변마을에는 214가구에 366명의 주민이 살고 있는 것으로 확인됐다. 마을 주민들은 그간에 거접 사격장으로 인한 소음과 진동 그리고 발암물질 발생에 따른 고통을 호소하고 있었다.

이처럼 주민 피해가 심각해지자 지난 2019년 4월 민. 관. 군 협의체를 구성해 거접 사격장 이전을 시키기 위해 가평군내 3곳에 대체 후보지를 선정하려 했으나 쉽지 않자 국방부는 거접 사격장 이전을 철회하고 사격장 주변 부지를 매입하기로 결정했다.

 

하지만, 국방부의 늑장 대응으로 인한 혼선이 가중되고 있어 주변마을에는 신규 주택들이 들어서는 등 보상 문제에 대한 차질이 불가피해 보인다. 현재 거주 중이던 마을 주민들은 국방부의 매입결정을 환영하고 나섰지만 정확한 답변을 하지 않고 있는 국방부로 인해 거짓 정보까지 난무해 마을 주민들 간에 불협화음까지 만들어 내고 있다는 지적이다.
