이번 훈련은 산불진화 헬기의 투입이 어려운 야간 시간대 산불진화를 원할하게 하기위해 지상 진화 역량을 강화하여 야간산불에 체계적ㆍ능동적으로 대응하기 위해서 라고 밝혔다.

최수천 북부지방산림청이 직접 참여하는 이번 훈련에는 북부지방산림청 과 홍천국유림관리소, 홍천군청, 홍천소방서, 산림조합중앙회 산림사업본부 등 5개 기관 60여 명이 참여한다고 전했다.

또한, 첨단 ICT 기술을 이용한 산불진화 대응능력을 제고하기 위해 산불 지휘차량을 통한 산불현장 통합지휘본부를 운영하며, 지휘차량에 탑재된 산불상황관제시스템과, 야간 열영상 드론 등의 실시간 영상 전송시스템 등을 활용해 산불현장 통합지휘체계 확립에 역점을 두고 있다고 했다.
