[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 4월 6일 태백수도사업소는 서울 DMC 중소기업 타워에서 개최된 경진대회에서 1차 심사를 거쳐 본선에 올라온 다른 9개의 우수한 과제들과 경쟁하여 중소기업과 공동으로 추진한 '도수(절도)방지 및 동파방지 수도미터 계량기 개발' 기술이 최우수상을 수상했다고 밝혔다.

한국환경공단 환경기술연구소가 주관한 이 대회에서 수상한 과제는 국·내외 발명 전시회 참가 등의 특전이 주어지며, 신기술개발·중소기업 매출확대 등 실질적인 성과를 도출하고 공단과 중소기업간 경쟁력을 강화한 대표사례를 발굴하고 포상하는 제도라고 했다.

태백수도사업소는 '동파방지 및 도수를 방지 할 수 있는 수도계량기 개발(성과공유제)' , '버려지는 샘플수를 ICT 기반으로 재이용하는 수질관리실 개발(협력이익공유과제)' , '1회용 폐마스크를 재활용하는 수도계량기 보온재 개발(공동기술개발)' 등 3개 과제를 직접 수행하였고, 그 결과를 바탕으로 이번 경진대회 참가했다고 전했다. 

비록 수상하지 못한 기술에 대해서는 아쉬움도 있지만 자체 역량을   발휘하여 유수의 기술들과 어깨를 나란히 하며 본선에 진출한 것과   모든 과제가 특허 기술 확보, 공공조달 시장 진출로 중소기업에게 실질적인 지원을 할 수 있는 토대 마련은 큰 의미가 있다고 할 수 있다고 했다.

태백수도사업소 직원들은 정수장에서 배수지 등 여러 수도시설과 각 가정의 수도계량기까지 광범위한 지역의 업무를 수행하면서도 다양한 민원과 기술적인 문제점에 직면할 때마다 이를 극복하기 위하여 고민하였고, 개인 시간을 투자하여 노력한 결과가 이번  경진대회를 통하여 인정받았다고 전했다.

성과공유제도·협력이익공유제도·공동기술개발 등 다양한 형태의 기술개발을 통해 업무 노하우를 축적하고 고유의 특허기술을 보유한 태백수도사업소 직원들은 스스로가 플랫폼이 되어 앞으로 더 많은 업무개선을 위해 기술개발에 도전할 것으로 기대된다고 했다.

태백수도사업소 이상곤 소장은 “고객의 최접점에서 서비스를 제공하는 사업부서에서 본연의 업무도 충실히 수행하면서 이러한 성과를 만들어 낸 직원들의 업무에 대한 관심도와 열의를 높게 평가한다.”고 말했다.
