[김현우 기자 = 원주] 원주시는 침체된 지역경제를 활성화하기 위한 특단의 조치로 2023년 1월 1일부터 점심시간 주정차 단속유예 시간을 확대 운영한다고 29일 밝혔다.

이번 주정차 단속유예 시간 확대 운영에 대해서 원강수 시장은 “코로나19 이후 무너진 지역 경제 활성화를 위한 특단의 조치로 경기 침체 장기화로 생계가 어려워진 소상공인, 자영업자 등 시민에게 도움이 되고자 결단을 내렸다.”라고 했다.

운영 대상은 불법주정차 CCTV 무인단속 구간 중 탄력적으로 주정차를 허용하고 있는 50개소가 해당되며, 단속유예 시간을 기존 2시간(11:30~13:30)에서 3시간(11:00~14:00)으로 1시간 더 확대 운영한다.

다만, 주정차 단속을 유예할 경우 교통통행·보행 불편 및 안전 위협이 예상되는 횡단보도, 교차로 모퉁이, 버스정류소, 소화전 주변, 어린이보호구역 등 5대 불법 주정차금지구역은 유예 없이 현행대로 단속한다.

원강수 시장은 “불법주정차로 인해 통행 불편이 많이 발생하는 구간은 유예 시간 중이라도 지속적인 계도 활동을 펼쳐 시민 불편을 최소화하고 선진 주정차 문화를 확립하도록 힘쓰겠다.”라고 말했다.
