가평군은 지난 2016년 ‘넥스트경기 창조오디션’(시책추진보전금 공모사업)공모에 ‘7080추억과 낭만 그리고 젊음이 있는 청평고을 조성사업’이 선정되면서 청평역 일대에 문화공원 조성 계획이 세워졌다. 옛 경춘선이 다니던 청평 역사부지를 탈바꿈하여 군민과 많은 여행객이 쉬어갈 수 있는 쉼터와 야외무대, 녹지공간 등으로 조성되었다.

하지만, 본지 기자가 둘러본 현장은 한마디로 부실 덩어리였다. 준공 두 달밖에 지나지 않은 사업지 일부에 잔디는 사라지고 그 자리에는 흙과 잡풀만 무성하게 자라고 있었다. 법면(흙을 쌓거나 깎아 내어 형성된 경사면) 중간에는 토사가 유출되어 움푹 파인 곳도 많았다. 

 

해당 현장 사진을 본 조경 전문가는 공사의 기본이 지켜지지 않았다고 말했다. 잔디를 심을 경우 뿌리가 자랄 수 있도록 눌러줘야 하는데 이곳 현장은 제대로 눌러지지 않았다고 했다. 또한, 잔디가 잘 커갈 수 있는 환경도 아니라고 말했다, 잔디를 받치고 있는 토양에 문제가 있다는 것이다.
