[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 29일 GH는 광명시, 국가철도공단, 넥스트레인(주), 한국토지주택공사(LH), ㈜광명문화복합단지.PFV와 광명학온 공공주택지구내에 ‘학온역(가칭)’ 신설을 위한 업무협약식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

2026년 말 준공 예정인 광명학온지구는 서울 중심부에서 16km, 서울 접경과 약 5km 거리에 위치하고 있으며, 대상지 인근의 광명역세권 택지개발지구 내에 광명종합터미널과 KTX 광명역이 있어 우수한 교통 인프라를 자랑한다고 했다.

신안산선 복선전철 광명역과 시흥시청역 사이에 위치하는 학온역이 신설되면, 시흥시청역에서 여의도까지 53분 거리가 22분(급행기준)으로 대폭 줄어들게 됨에 따라 서울 접근성이 더욱 개선될 것으로 기대하고 있다고 했다. 

이번 협약에 따라 역사의 건립비용은 ‘광명시흥 테크노밸리’ 사업시행자인 GH, LH 및 광명문화관광복합단지PFV 사업시행자 간 비용분담을 통하여 재원을 조달한다고 했다. 

또한 사업시행은 신안산선 복선전철 민간투자사업자인 넥스트레인(주)에서 하며국가철도공단에서 사업관리를 할 예정이라고 전했다.

GH는 학온역 신설을 통해 광명시흥 테크노밸리 종사자와 지역주민의 광역교통 편의성이 크게 향상되는 것은 물론, 도시첨단산업단지와 연계하여 4차 산업혁명을 선도 할 핵심기업을 유치하는데 일조할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다고 밝혔다.

GH 이헌욱 사장은 “업무협약 체결로 입주민들과 산업종사자들의 이동 편의성이 획기적으로 향상될 것으로 기대하며, 역사 신설을 통하여 광명시흥 테크노밸리의 성장 잠재력을 높이고 지역경제 활성화에도 크게 기여할 수 있도록 사업추진에 만전을 기하겠다”고 말했다.
