[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 경기주택도시공사(GH)는 추석연휴를 맞이하여 오는 8일부터 12일까지 5일간 수원팔달주차타워를 무료로 개방한다.

이번 무료 개방은 코로나19 장기화에 따라 침체된 전통시장 경제를 활성화하고, 제수용품 구매를 위해 못골시장, 지동시장 등 인근 9개 시장에 방문하는 고객의 편의를 증진하고자 시행된다.

수원팔달주차타워는 전통시장 주변 주차난 해소를 위해 GH가 지난 2004년 200억 원의 사업비를 투입하여 건립했다.

한편 GH는 코로나-19 확산 초기인 2020년 3월부터 소상공인의 경제적 피해 극복을 위해 ‘착한 임대인 운동’에 동참하여 재래시장 상가 및 공공임대 상가 등 소상공인 상가 임대료를 감면하고 있다.

GH 관계자는 “코로나19로 침체된 지역상권 회복과 도내 소상공인의 경제적 부담을 덜 수 있도록 앞으로도 지역사회와의 상생 협력을 위해 끊임없이 노력하겠다”라고 말했다.
