[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 19일 동두천시 전진석 부시장은 국가철도공단에서 추진 중인 동두천-연천 복선전철 건설사업 관련으로 민원이 발생함에 따라 현장을 방문하여 사업관계자들과 소통의 시간을 가졌다고 밝혔다.

이번 민원은 동두천-연천 복선전철 건설사업 관련으로 소요 12통 및 13통 마을주민들이 12통 쇠둔치 마을 방향으로 개찰구를 추가로 설치해 달라는 것이 요지이며, 동두천시는 이에 대해 지속적으로 국가철도공단에 문의하는 한편, 소요산역 개찰구 추가 설치의 실현여부를 확인하고자 사업관계자들과 자리를 마련하여 다각적으로 검토하였다고 했다.

전진석 부시장은 “시민의 불편을 신속히 해소하기 위해서는 직접 현장으로 찾아가는 노력이 필요하다”며 “시민의 마음이 시정의 중심이 되는 도시가 될 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.  

한편 동두천-연천 복선전철 건설사업은 국가철도공단이 서울과 경기 북부지역을 잇도록 추진하는 철도망 구축 사업으로 총 사업비 5,299억원이 투입되는 동두천~연천 구간은 총 20.9㎞로 내년 12월 개통을 목표로 추진 중이며 소요산 역사의 경우 사업완료 후 교량 하부를 통해 역사 출입 통행이 가능하도록 기존 역사에서 증축 및 고가화가 예정되어 있다고 했다.
