[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양주시는 지난 29일 경기주택도시공사와 양주역세권 공동4블럭 통합공공임대주택(청년주택) 건립사업의 원활한 추진을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 협약은 양주시는 통합공공임대주택(청년주택) 건설, 운영관리를 위해 경기주택도시공사가 사업대상지(A4BL, 2,500㎡)를 무상으로 사용·수익할 수 있도록 행정적 제반 사항에 대해 협조하고 경기주택도시공사는 2026년 상반기 입주 목표로 총100세대 규모의 통합공공임대주택(청년주택) 건설에 필요한 재원을 조달·부담하고 시설 건립과 운영, 관리 등을 책임진다.

양 기관은 이번 협약을 통해 청년, 신혼부부 등이 안정적으로 지역에 정착할 수 있도록 주거비 부담을 완화하는 동시에 양질의 주거복지를 누릴 수 있는 정주여건 조성에 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

또한, 양주역세권 개발사업은 행정·업무·주거의 편익시설 등이 어우러진 미래형 복합도시 건설을 목표로 하고 있으며, 다음 달인 10월 공동주택(A5) 입주분양을 시작으로 향후 순차적으로 공동주택 공급이 이루어질 예정이다. 

양주시 관계자는 “민선 8기 공약사항 중 하나인 청년주택 공급확대의 일환으로 양주 역세권 통합공공임대주택 건립사업이 청년층의 유입을 촉진하고 안정적인 지역 정착에 기여할 것”이라며 “이번 협약에서 합의된 사항이 적극적으로 이행될 수 있도록 지속적으로 진행상황을 점검하겠다”고 말했다.
