이날 전달식은 김종석 부시장, 조도연 경기도교육청 제2부교육감, 관계 공무원 등이 참석한 가운데 시청 부시장실에서 열렸고, 조도연 부교육감은 이재정 교육감을 대신해 초·중·고 학생별 진로탐색 역량강화, 지역교육공동체 구축에 기여한 점에 대한 감사의 뜻을 담은 감사패를 양주시에 전달했다고 했다.

양주시는 지난해 총 134억원의 사업비를 투입해 혁신교육지구 사업을 비롯해 공교육 내실화 프로그램 지원, 무상교복·무상급식 대응지원사업, 학교 체육관 건립 지원 등 도교육청 연계 교육사업을 지원했으며, 올해에는 전년 대비 9억원이 늘어난 143억원을 지원할 계획이라고 했다.

김종석 부시장은 “양주시의 모든 학생이 안전하고 쾌적한 환경에서 양질의 교육을 받을 수 있도록 더욱 노력하겠다”며 “학생과 학부모, 시민 모두가 행복한 희망찬 내일의 교육도시를 조성하기 위해 도교육청과 긴밀한 협력체계를 구축하고 다양한 교육프로그램을 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
