[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 북부지방산림청은 “산불이 연중 발생하고, 피해규모도 대형화되는 등 유동적인 산불변화 추이에 적극적으로 대응하기 위해 ‘산불전문예방진화대’ 386명을 조기에 선발해 산불감시와 진화활동에 나선다.”라고 밝혔다.

북부지방산림청은 기후변화로 인해 극심한 가뭄, 건조한 날이 증가함에 따라 산불발생이 사시사철로 확대되고 도시지역·야간 산불로 피해규모가 대형화되는 등 산불의 발생상황 변화에 능동적으로 대응하기 위해 ‘산불재난특수진화대’ 97명을 연중 운영하고 있으며, ‘산불전문예방진화대’ 386명을 추가로 선발하여 산불진화에 효율을 높일 뿐만 아니라 지역 일자리 창출에 크게 이바지할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

이번에 선발하는 산불전문예방진화대는 북부지방산림청 소속 6개 국유림관리소(춘천ㆍ홍천ㆍ서울ㆍ수원ㆍ인제ㆍ민북지역관리소) 관할 산불발생 취약지역 등에 배치하여 운영할 계획으로, 9월 중순부터 10월 초까지 관리소별 응시원서를 신청받아 서류심사, 체력·실습검정, 면접 심사를 통해 최종 선발한다.

임하수 북부지방산림청장은 “최근 건조한 날씨가 지속되고 산불발생 위험이 커지는 시기로서, 우리의 소중한 산림을 지키기 위해 헌신하는 산불진화대의 역할이 무엇보다 중요하므로 산을 사랑하는 유능한 인재의 많은 참여를 바란다.”라고 밝혔다.
