동두천시 무궁화라이온스클럽은 주변의 어려운 이웃을 돕기 위해 다양한 사회공헌 활동을 추진해오고 있는 단체로 지난 11월 업무 협약을 통해 중앙동 행정복지센터와 복지사각지대 발굴 및 민·관 자원 물품 배송지원에 관해 상호 협력하기로 합의했다고 전했다.

거북이 삼겹살과 야우리 김치찌개는 매달 중앙동 취약계층에 대한 식사 제공 봉사를 통한 지역사회 나눔 문화 확산에 기여하는 중앙동 착한식당에 동참하고 있다고 했다.

김현자 동두천시 목련라이온스클럽 회장은 “봉사를 할 때 마다 마음이 뿌듯하다. 봉사가 필요한 곳이면 어디든 찾아가서 어려운 이웃들에게 계속 도움을 드릴 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
