[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 12월 21일 소흘읍행정복지센터는 월드프렌즈에서 소흘읍 저소득층을 위해 200만원 상당 식료품세트 40박스를 기탁했다고 밝혔다.

이날 기탁받은 식료품세트는 두유, 삼계탕, 영양죽, 즉석국 등으로 생활에 어려움을 겪고 있는 저소득 노인가구 40가정에 사회복지공동모금회를 통해 전달될 예정이라고 했다.

월드프렌즈 황의진 팀장은 “코로나19로 외부활동이 어렵고 심리적으로 많이 위축된 요즘 생활이 어려운 어르신 가구에 따뜻한 마음을 전하고 싶었다.”라고 말했다.

최기진 소흘읍장은 “어려운 여건에서도 소외된 이웃들과 함께 나누고자 흔쾌히 후원해 주신 월드프렌즈에 깊이 감사드린다. 따뜻한 온정이 지역의 어렵고 힘든 어르신 가구에 잘 전달될 수 있도록 하겠다.”라고 말했다. 

한편 (사)월드프렌즈는 글로벌 국제구호개발 NGO로 국내 활동으로는 아동결연, 빈곤아동 지원, 시설아동지원 등을 추진하고 있으며, 해외사업으로는 아동결연, 교육지원, 식수·위생, 의료·보건, 지역개발, 긴급구호 등의 활발한 활동을 전개하고 있다고 밝혔다.
