[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 의정부시는 시민의 건강을 최우선으로 생각하는 안전하고 건강한 먹거리를 공급하고 의정부시 농업의 지속가능성과 지역경제 활성화를 위해 다양한 사업을 추진하고 있다고 밝혔다.

 

의정부시는 자라나는 성장기 청소년들을 위해 관내 초·중·고·특수학교 등 71개교, 4만 7천3백 명의 학생에게 친환경 농산물 식재료를 공급하고 있다고 전했다.

 

학교급식에 사용되는 농산물을 친환경 인증 및 G마크 농산물(유기농쌀, 채소, 과일)로 대체하기 위해 구입 차액을 지원하는 사업으로 올해 총 21억 2천만 원의 예산이 투입된다고 했다.

 

식재료는 관내 및 우리 시 인근에서 생산되는 친환경 농산물로 우선 구입·공급하며, 공급업체와 학교 급식시설에 수시로 방문하여 잔류농약 검사를 실시하는 등 성장기 학생들의 신체 발달 저해 요소를 방지하고, 신선하고 안전한 먹거리를 마음 놓고 먹을 수 있도록 꼼꼼한 검수를 거쳐 제공된다고 했다.

 

이를 통해 학생들의 식생활 개선과 건강증진을 도모하고 지역에서 생산한 친환경 농산물이 확대 공급되어 생산 농가의 소득 증대에 도움을 줄 수 있다고 했다.

 

의정부시는 향후 상·하반기 학교별 만족도 조사를 통해 친환경 농산물에 대한 개선점 등 현장의 목소리를 직접 듣고 적극적인 피드백을 통해 양질의 먹거리를 제공하도록 최선을 다할 예정이라고 전했다.

의정부시는 임산부 건강을 증진하고 친환경 농산물 유통·소비를 촉진하기 위하여 관내 1천 4백 명의 임산부에게 친환경 농산물 꾸러미를 지원하고 있다고 밝혔다.

 

임산부 친환경 농산물 꾸러미 지원 사업은 임신 중이거나 출산한 지 1년 미만인 임산부들에게 9만 6천 원을 부담하면 연간 48만 원 상당의 친환경 농산물을 공급하는 사업으로 예산은 5억 3천만 원 정도이며 지난 2월 신청 접수 시작 후 3주 만에 배정 인원을 초과할 정도로 뜨거운 관심을 받았다고 했다.

 

친환경 농산물 통합 쇼핑몰에서 본인이 직접 품목을 선택해 꾸러미를 구성할 수 있어서 코로나19 시대 비대면 장보기에 익숙한 임산부들의 선호도가 더욱 높다고 했다.
