[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 10월 7일 오전 11시 김동근 의정부시장은 향군회관에서 재향군인회가 개최한 제70주년 재향군인의 날 기념식에 참석했다고 밝혔다.

이날 행사는 김 시장을 비롯해 최정희 의정부시의회 의장과 시의원, 보훈 및 안보단체장, 재향군인회 회원 등 70여 명이 참석했으며 기념식은 다짐 낭독을 시작으로 대회사, 기념사, 축사, 결의문낭독 순 등으로 진행됐다.

김 시장은 그간 재향군인회 발전을 위해 헌신한 유공자에게 공로휘장과 표창장을 수여했다.

최종팔 의정부시재향군인회장은 “재향군인회의 발전을 위해 노력하시는 회원들의 노고에 감사드리고, 앞으로도 국가안보와 발전을 위해 최선을 다하는 재향군인회가 되겠다”고 말했다.

김동근 의정부시장은 “요즘 불안한 안보상황이 지속되고 있다”며 “재향군인회가 국가안보와 지역발전을 위해 적극적인 역할을 해줄 것을 당부드린다”고 말했다.
