[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 의정부시 발달장애인 평생교육지원센터에서는 지역 내 발달장애인을 대상으로 평생교육에 대한 욕구조사를 실시하고 결과를 발표했다고 밝혔다. 

이번 조사는 발달장애인의 특수성을 고려한 평생교육의 방향 설정의 필요성과 함께 교육과정의 개발에 대한 요구가 계속되고 있었으며, 이를 추진하기 위한 통계자료가 미흡한 상황을 해소하기 위해 실시됐다고 했다. 

이번 욕구조사 결과는 의정부시의 발달장애인 당사자의 평생교육에 대한 욕구로 스포츠 활동, 요리 활동과 같은 문화예술교육에 대한 선호도가 높게 나타났으며, 또한 발달장애인의 보호자는 문화예술교육, 기초문해교육, 직업능력교육 순으로 요구하는 것으로 나타났고, 발달장애인 관련 기관 종사자의 경우 장애인 평생교육 활성화를 위한 과제로 평생교육 전문가 등의 전문인력 지원과 장애인 평생학습 자료 제공 등을 원하는 것으로 나타났다고 했다.

이경재 센터장은 “이번 욕구조사의 결과를 바탕으로 의정부시 발달장애인을 위한 맞춤형 평생교육 지원방안을 마련하기 위한 기초자료로 활용함과 동시에 관내 발달장애인 기관 및 단체에 보급하여 공유하고자 한다”고 전했다.
