[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 포천시는 문화체육관광부 주관 2021년 문화예술교육 전용시설 조성지원 ‘꿈꾸는 예술터’ 공모에 포천 영평초등학교의 ‘포천38 문화예술창작소’가 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

‘포천38 문화예술창작소’ 사업은 22년 3월 폐교 예정인 영평초등학교에 총 20억원 ‘국비 10억, 시비 10억’의 사업비를 투입해 문화예술교육 공간, 소공연장, 창의·창작 개발공간 등을 조성하는 사업으로 2023년 개관을 목표로 추진한다고 했다.

포천시는 포천문화재단과 교육기관, 지역예술인 등과 협업을 통해 준비단계에서부터 지역특성에 맞는 문화예술교육프로그램을 기획·발굴하고 특화된 교육 공간을 조성할 방침이라고 전했다. 

박윤국 포천시장은 “폐교 예정인 학교시설을 문화예술 교육공간으로 조성할 수 있게 된 것은 지역과 시민들에게 매우 반가운 소식이다.”라며, “영평초등학교가 시민을 위한 새로운 문화공간으로 조속히 자리잡을 수 있도록 사업을 착실히 추진하겠다.”라고 밝혔다.
