[김현우 기자 = 강릉] 강릉시는 오는 13일부터 발달장애인에게 적합한 맞춤형 콘텐츠 확장을 위한 베타테스트 버전 로봇을 발달장애인 가정 80세대에 배포한다고 8일 밝혔다.

스마트 기술을 활용한 맞춤형 AI로봇을 2021년부터 개발해왔으며, 발달장애인의 인지와 행동을 개선하는 데 효과가 있는지 분석하기 위한 임상 연구를 실시하고 있다.

본 연구에 부합하는 발달장애인 14명을 대상으로 실험군과 대조군으로 나누어 임상 연구 중으로 현재 70% 이상 진행됐다.

이와 더불어 치료실과 복지관 등에서 교육을 받고 가정으로 돌아가서도 학습에 유의미한 영향을 주기 위한 콘텐츠 확장을 위해, 베타테스트 버전 로봇을 2주간 사용한 후 개선 및 불편사항 등을 수집할 계획이다.

임상연구의 결과 분석과 베타테스트 버전의 로봇 배포를 통해 수집한 자료를 바탕으로, 완성된 버전의 맞춤형 로봇을 제작하여 발달장애인을 돌보는 현장에 보급할 예정이다.

발달장애인의 수는 10년 사이 급속도로 증가하고 있으며, 정책 지원의 부족으로 돌봄 부담이 온전히 부모에게 가중되고 있는 현실을 극복하기 위해 강릉시가 주도적으로 기획하였다.

강릉시 관계자는 “4차 혁명의 시대 조류 속에 AI로봇을 활용하여 발달장애인과 가족은 물론 돌봄 인력에게 편익을 제공할 수 있도록 최선을 다해 노력해 나갈 것이다”고 말했다.
