양주시장애인편의증진기술지원센터와 합동으로 진행하는 이번 점검은 장애인전용주차구역 내 불법주차 등으로 인한 장애인의 이용 불편을 해소하고 위반행위에 대한 경각심을 높이기 위해 마련했다고 전했다.

양주시는 지난해에 이어 코로나19 감염 확산을 방지하기 위해 계도‧홍보를 중심으로 단속을 실시할 계획이며, 점검대상은 장애인주차구역이 있는 공공기관, 공중이용시설, 공동주택을 비롯해 주차 관련 민원과 주차위반이 많은 곳이라고 했다.

주요 점검사항은 불법주차 ‘주차표지 미부착 차량, 구형 주차표지 부착 차량, 주차불가표지 차량’, 표지 부당사용 ‘주차표지 위변조, 표지 불법대여’, 주차방해행위 ‘물건 적치, 주차면 가로막기’ 등이며, 위반사항이 발견될 경우 장애인전용주차구역 주차위반 과태료 10만원, 주차방해 시 과태료 50만원, 주차표지 위·변조 시 과태료 200만원이 부과될 예정이라고 했다.

양주시 관계자는 “이번 합동점검을 통해 장애인전용주차구역 제도에 대한 시민 인식을 개선하고 올바른 주차문화를 확립하겠다”며 “시민 여러분께서도 보행장애인이 주차장을 이용하는데 불편함이 없도록 관련 법규 준수에 동참해달라”고 당부했다.
