이번 대회는 지난 11월 30일 전북 완주군 소재 지방다치인재개발원에서 지자체에서 제출한 우수사례 94건 중 전문가 심사와 국민온라인 심사, 현장 실사를 거쳐 선정된 우수사례 7건에 대한 발표와 현장 심사가 진행되었다고 했다.

국정목표 실천 우수 지자체 경진대회는 지방자치인재개발원과 한국지방행정연구원이 공동 주관했으며, 지방자치단체에서 정부의 국민주권, 국민성장, 포용사회, 분권발전, 평화번영 등 정부의 5대 국정목표를 구체적으로 실천한 우수사례를 발굴하고 그 성과를 공유하기 위해 지난 2018년부터 매년 개최하고 있다고 전했다.
