[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동해시가 (사)한국웰빙문화관광협회와 e대한경제가 공동 주최한 제1회 한국문화관광대상 「대한민국 최고의 관광지」 공모에서 문화관광정책부문 우수상을 수상했다고 밝혔다.

제1회 한국문화관광대상은 전국 지방자치단체를 대상으로 국내관광 및 문화정책의 활성화를 위해 제정됐다고 전했다.

관광 3개부문(관광문화정책, 관광마케팅, 관광시설)에 대해 지난달 21일까지 공모한 결과 전국 48개의 지방자치단체가 공모해 동해시는 9곳의 1차 심사 통과 지자체들과 경합 끝에 우수상에 선정됐다고 했다.

동해시는 더 크고 더 강한 행복 동해 완성을 목표로 산업경제 관광휴양 도시를 실현하기 위해 신성장 동력사업을 시작으로 5대 권역별 특화 관광사업 마무리에 주력함으로써 그 동안 눈으로만 보고 스치는 관광에서 체험하고 체류하는 관광으로의 전환을 이루어낸 점에서 높은 평가를 받아 문화관광정책부문 우수상을 수상했다고 전했다.

‘한국문화관광대상’을 수상한 지방자치단체에 대해서는 특별여행상품 우선 운영과 미디어 홍보, 문화관광상품 개발 및 홍보 판매를 통한 지역경제 활성화 및 지속적인 협력 증진이 이뤄지게 된다고 했다.

신영선 관광과장은 “5대 권역별 관광사업 완성으로 새로운 관광 트랜드 창출과 권역별 특화 관광지 개발을 통하여 대한민국 최고의 관광지로 자리매김할 수 있도록 노력할 것”이라고 말했다.
