양양군은 지난해 11월과 12월, 양양 남대천 야생조류 분변에서 고병원성AI 발생과 올해 1월 5일부터 현재까지 야생멧돼지 폐사체 및 수렵개체에서 ASF(아프리카돼지열병)가 총 34건 발생하는 등 방역의 위험성에도 축산농가로의 확산 차단에 주안점을 두고 방역대에 위치한 삽존리 양돈밀집단지와 방역취약 양돈농가의 광역울타리설치 및 8대 차단방역시설 등을 조속히 설치 완료했다고 전했다.

또 산란계 농가에도 광역울타리설치 사업을 추진하는 등 선제적인 차단방역활동에 전력을 다하여 관내 야생동물에서 계속되는 질병발생에도 축산농가에서 고병원성AI와 ASF(아프리카돼지열병)가 발생하지 않은 점이 높게 평가된 것으로 보인다고 했다.
