[김준호 기자 = 삼척시]  삼척시는 저출산과 고령화로 인한 인구 감소세가 뚜렷해지고 있다. 지난 2021년 강원도내 인구 감소로 인하여 소멸이 우려되는 지역은 삼척시를 포함해 12곳이 지정되었다.

이에 따라, 한국지방재정공제회로부터 지난해 1862억원(2022년 798억원, 2023년 1064억원)을 지원 받게 된다.

한편, 14일 삼척시와 강원대학교(삼척캠퍼스)는 인구감소 위기대응 및 지역대학 경쟁력 강화에 공동으로 대응하기 위하여 협력관을 운영한다고 밝혔다.

양 기관은 강원대학교 기획지원처와 삼척시 기획조정실로 소통창구를 단일화하고 정기적인 정보교류 및 소통을 통해 대학교 재학생 정착지원 및 장학사업, 연계공모사업 발굴, 산학연 연구수행에 따른 규제 해소 등 현안에 대하여 지속적으로 협력하기로 하였다.

특히, 행정안전부를 비롯한 중앙부처에서 지방소멸 및 인구감소 문제가 중요한 정책적 화두로 대두되며 그 중심을 청년정책에 두고있는 추세에 맞추어, 양 기관은 시-대학 간 연계가능한 청년정책 정부 공모사업발굴을 중심으로 협력관제도를 운영해 나갈 방침이라고 밝혔다.
