[김택곤 기자=영월군] 지속된 청년 유출, 고령화와 경제인구감소로 인하여 인구소멸에 대한 고민은 작은 소도시에서 공통적으로 할수 밖에 없는 현실이 되었다. 이에 영월군은 문제를 인식하고 새로운 인구정책을 위해 맞춤형 청년시책을 적극적으로 추진하고 있다. 

청년이 정착하기 좋은 영월 프로젝트 '청정영월프로젝트'는 영월군이 지역 내 청년인구유입과 창업, 자립기반 조성, 일자리, 취업, 주거, 복지, 문화 등 종합 서비스 제공을 위한 과정으로 2021년 4월 전담조직인 영월군 청년사업단 개소 및 양재국 청년정책전문관을 배치하여 추진했다.

영월군은 먼저 청년공간 ‘청정(靑停)지대’ 운영의 활성화로 청년공간 확보 및 소통의 장을 마련했으며 ‘청년 일자리 지원 및 기업체 네트워크 구축 사업’인 청년 인건비 지원, 청년 장기근속지원을 위한 영월힘찬카드 지원, 취업일자리 행사를 진행했다.

‘지속가능한 창업 환경 조성을 위한 영월창업허브 운영’을 통해 전문 분야별 컨설팅 및 창업교육, 청년마켓은 운영하였으며 ‘청년 참여 및 문화 생태계 조성’을 위하여 청년웹진, 영상콘텐츠 제작, 리빙랩, 청년간담회, 청년클래스, 청년의 날 행사로 지역청년이 함께 참여하는 행사를 진행했다.

이러한 청정영월프로젝트 성과로 영월군은 ‘2022년 저출산 대응 우수사례 경진대회’에서 국무총리상(우수상)을 수상했으며, 양재국 청년사업단장이 행전안전부에서 주관하는 ‘2022년 청년자립 및 활력지원 부문’에서 대통령상을 수상하게 됐다.

양재국 청년사업단장은 “앞으로 다양한 역량과 매력을 가진 청년들이 지역에 정착할 수 있는 환경과 지역을 떠나지 않는 생태계 조성을 통해 영월의 미래를 준비하고, 지역 경쟁력을 높이기 위해 최선을 다하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
