[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양구군은 인구증가 시책으로 내년에 연중 ‘우리 마을 인구 늘리기 프로젝트’를 추진하기로 했다고 밝혔다.

‘우리 마을 인구 늘리기 프로젝트’는 인구 감소로 인한 지역 소멸의 위기에 직면한 상황을 주민 스스로 인식하도록 함으로써 인구 증가에 대한 관심을 유도하고, 마을 내 미전입자의 주민등록 이전 등 마을 자체적인 노력을 유도하기 위해 마련됐으며, 이 프로젝트는 84개 마을을 대상으로 인구가 증가한 수에 따라 순위를 매겨 5위까지의 마을에 인센티브를 제공하는 내용이라고 했다.

이에 따라 양구군은 우선 올 연말 인구를 기준으로 내년 6월말 인구를 집계하고, 인구가 가장 많이 증가한 마을 순위를 매겨 7월초 포상한 후 하반기에 마을별로 2천만 원 내에서 건의 사업을 추진해 마을 숙원을 해결할 계획이며, 이를 위해 양구군은 전광판과 소식지, 현수막, 이장회의 등을 통해 각 마을에 알리고, 마을에 협조공문을 발송하는 등 적극 홍보하고 있다고 했다.

박금배 기획감사담당관은 “주민들 스스로 마을의 미전입자 등에 대한 관리에 나섬으로써 인구 증가에 도움이 되고, 인구 증가 상위 마을들은 주민 숙원도 해결돼 더 살기 좋은 마을로 발전하는 효과가 나타날 것으로 기대한다.”고 말했다.

한편, 양구군의 인구는 11월말 기준 2만1900여 명이라고 했다.
