[남상훈 기자 = 의정부] 의정부시가 지역 내 유일한 산업단지이자 공업지역인 ‘용현산업단지’의 대변혁을 위해 워킹그룹을 구성하고 본격 운영에 나섰다고 밝혔다.

의정부시는 시설 노후화와, 신산업 경쟁력 저하, 청년 취업 기피 현상을 겪고 있는 용현산단을 재탄생 시키고자 기업인과 전문가, 공직자로 구성된 ‘용현산업단지 발전전략 수립을 위한 워킹그룹’을 꾸렸다.

지난 25일 워킹그룹 구성과 함께 산단 내 중소기업지원센터에서 안동광 부시장 주재로 킥오프 회의를 열고 용현산단의 발전방안과 정책발굴 등을 논의했다. 회의에는 한국산업단지공단, 경기도경제과학진흥원의 전문가와 관계부서 공직자 등 10여 명의 위원들이 참석했다.

위원들은 용현산단은 도심 내 위치하고 교통이 편리할 뿐 아니라 추동공원 부용천으로 둘러싸인 쾌적한 자연환경을 지녔음에도, 장기간 체계적인 발전전략 없이 관리돼 시설이 노후화됐고, 산업환경 변화에 대응하기 위한 경쟁력도 저하되고 있다고 진단했다.

이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 -고부가가치 첨단산업 육성, -근무환경 및 이미지 개선, -기업지원서비스 강화라는 3대 전략을 수립하고, 실행을 위한 12대 실행과제를 마련해 추진에 박차를 가하기로 뜻을 모았다.
