[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 월남참전자회 가평군지회는 지난 30일, 현충탑 환경정비 활동을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

이날 회원 30여명과 함께 오는 6월 6일 '제67회 현충일'을 앞두고 현충일 전후 이곳을 찾을 국가유공자 및 유족에 대한 예우를 다하였다고 전했다.

월남참전자회는 평균 연령 77세로 대부분의 회원들이 고령의 나이임에도 불구하고 매년 주요 국경일, 명절 등을 앞두고 전적비 환경정화활동을 꾸준히 실시하며 보훈정신 계승에 앞장서고 있다. 

지병록 복지정책과장은 “누구보다도 솔선수범하여 가평군민과 보훈가족을 비롯한 안보관광객들이 순국선열들의 숭고한 희생정신을 기릴 수 있도록 모범을 보여주시는 유공자분들의 노고에 깊은 감사를 드린다”고 말했다.

[Reporter Ahn Jong-wook = Northern Gyeonggi/Gangwon] The Gapyeong-gun branch of the Vietnam Veterans Association announced that it had carried out environmental maintenance activities for the memorial tower on the 30th.

On this day, along with about 30 members, he said that he had done his best to treat the national meritorious people and their bereaved families before and after the 67th Remembrance Day on June 6th.

The Vietnam Veterans Association has an average age of 77, and despite the fact that most of its members are elderly, it is taking the lead in inheriting the veteran's spirit by continuously conducting environmental cleanup activities ahead of major national holidays and holidays every year.

Ji Byung-rok, head of the Welfare Policy Division, said, "More than anyone else, I am deeply grateful for the hard work of those of merit who set an example so that Gapyeong-gun citizens and veterans' families and other security tourists can honor the noble sacrifice of the martyrs."
