[김택곤 기자=영월군] 영월군은 수도권에서 1시간 정도 걸리는 이점을 이용해 수도권 야외정원 도시를 목표로 다양한 친수복합문화공간을 조성하고 있다. 동서강 정원 청령포원 조성공사와 동서강 수월래 프로젝트, 생활밀착형 정원패키지 조성사업에 총사업비 1,285억원을 들여 연차적으로 추진해 나간다고 밝혔다. 

먼저, 동서강 정원 청령포원 조성공사는 장릉과 청령포 사이에 있어 문화·관광자원으로써 중요한 자리에 위치한 영월저류지 2구간에 총사업비 225억원을 들여 5개의 주제를 가진 정원을 조성하는 사업으로 올해 3월 사업 착공에 들어가 2025년 개원을 목표로 사업 추진에 박차를 가할 계획이다.

생활밀착형 정원패키지 조성사업은 2021년 산림청 공모사업으로 선정되어 국비 80억원을 포함한 총사업비 110억원을 확보, 지난해 신아아파트 인근에 실외정원을 조성한데 이어, 올해는 보건소, 내성초 인근 등에 정원을 조성해 2025년까지 총 18개소의 실내, 실외 정원을 조성할 계획이다.

또한, 지역맞춤형 통합하천사업은 도내에서 유일하게 환경부 공모사업으로 선정된 친수문화공간 조성사업으로, 올해 말까지 환경부와 세부적이고 종합적인 조성계획을 마련한 뒤 2024년부터 연차적으로 예산을 투입, 단계적으로 추진해 동서강정원 연당원과 청령포원, 동서강 수월래 프로젝트를 하나로 연계하여 영월읍 전역이 정원도시가 될 수 있도록 조성해나갈 방침이다.

아울러, 군은 ‘수도권 야외정원 도시’의 조기 정착과 ‘정원문화’의 확산을 위해 향후 정원컨퍼런스, 정원산업박람회 등 정원행사를 개최하여 정원산업을 지속 개발해 나갈 계획이다.
